World Carp Masters (WCM) 2018
With 83 teams from 15 countries competing over a 17½ mile section of Lake Orlik in the Czech Republic recently, the 4th WCM event was a resounding success. Almost half of the teams caught carp – no mean feat considering the size of the venue – with 122 landed in all, topped by a 42lb (19.1kg) common.
With only the four largest fish being eligible for each team’s score, the competition kept going right until the final whistle. The eventual winners were the English pairing of Mark Bines and Michael Wisken, who managed a weight of 54.1kg (119lb) to thank for their share of the £45,000 prize fund, after the five-day event had run its course.
