Fishspy | Underwater Spy

RRP: £199.95 | Online: fishspy.com

The last couple of years have seen great advancement in angling technology. There has been the launch of various compact castable echo sounders, and various other devices and apps that utilise our love for smartphones in the modern age. The FishSpy allows you to see spots like never before.

Using a camera and utilising Wi-Fi, simply connect the device to your smartphone and hit record when the float is on the surface. The connection is lost as soon as the float is submerged, but continues to record until the float resurfaces and a connection can be made again. It’s quick to reconnect and you can view the footage you have just recorded, giving you a clear image of exactly what the float is above, or where you’ve just cast it to.

It is compatible with both IOS and Android devices, and will transmit up to 100m, giving plenty of range to explore the water in front. It’s a great tool to have in your armoury, and the 4-hour battery life means you can keep an eye on what’s happening on the spot throughout your session. See if bait has been taken, check the rigs, and watch fish move over your spots. The great thing about this device is that the phone doesn’t even need signal for it to work because of the Wi-Fi connection, so no matter where you are, you’ll always be able to use it. This is a brilliant bit of kit which is a major move forward in carp-fishing technology.
