World Carp Masters 2016 a Huge Success

The WORLD CARP MASTERS 2016 was once again a phenomenal success from the start. The pre-event champagne buffet was enjoyed by the competitors and the VIPs, including the French media and a French minister. Once again the tournament was completely sold out, and 2017 looks to be even bigger.

The tournament received a lot of attention from the French media, including daily coverage from French channel 3 T.V. The WCM Facebook page went viral, with double the views from last year, climbing past the million mark during the week of the tournament.

The fishing was non-stop with over two-thirds of the teams catching. The biggest fish went to team South Africa. Charles Holick and Hendrick Steyn caught a cracking 26.2kg common, which gave them second place overall. Third overall went to Stef Peeters and Pieter Leys from Belgium, and the WCM world champions were Krzysztof Mroz and Leszek Ruteki from Poland, with a winning weight of 315.50kg.

Once again I would like to thank all the WCM marshals and media crew because this tournament would not happen without them. We are well under way with the qualifiers for 2017 in the USA, South Africa, Poland, Benelux, and new for 2017, the Czech Republic and England.
