Len Gurd RIP

Early in March we were saddened to learn about the death of Len Gurd, he was 78. Len was best-known for running Linear fisheries, which he founded in Bedfordshire in 1973, before moving to its current base in Oxford, 20 years later. Len was responsible for the release of numerous carp fishing films through his Original Video Company, as well as writing books for children. He was also a remarkable fundraiser, notably creating the Fish With The Stars event which raised many thousands of pounds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association over the years. Tributes poured in from across the angling community, with his Fishery Manager, Chris Blunt, saying “Rest in Peace you wonderful, talented man - the world of fishing has lost a true gentleman and a legend.” Len died peacefully at home, with his wife, Fran, by his side.
