RIP Alan Taylor

It was with great sadness that news of the passing of Alan Taylor came to light recently. Alan was revered in carp fishing circles, not only for his achievements in this country, but perhaps more so in later times for his exploits abroad.

In a career that spanned across six decades he managed to catch some enormous fish, boasting a UK PB of 55lb 12oz and a foreign one of a colossal 86lb 4oz! Alan came to prominence during the 80s and 90s when he released a number of fishing videos and introduced us to Lac du Der. In recent years, he was probably best known for his string of giant carp, from the big-fish mecca that is Rainbow in the south of France.

Back home he had success at a number of venues, including Duncan Kay’s mid-Northants, Yateley and Horton. He formed Whacker Catcher products and came to run the Ecton lakes syndicate for many years.

Our thoughts and wishes go out to his family at this time.
