Solar Bait | Originals Bait Range

RRP: From £6.99 |

This month sees us take a look at two red fishmeals from the Solar stable. Although both are shelf-life for the purposes of the review, they are also available in frozen form.

Having originally been rolled in 1994, the Club Mix is probably one of the most recognisable baits of the past 20-plus years, and arguably one of the most successful too!

Carefully blended from pre-digested fishmeals, milk proteins, Haith’s Robin Red and enhancers, Squid and Octopus Koi Rearer, liquid food attractants and enhancers (including their legendary Mixmaster liquid) – the finished boilies have been catching carp worldwide for nearly a quarter of a century.

The Red Herring is another bait that has been around since the mid-90s. With a much smoother texture than the Club Mix, this has a flavour profile centred around the Mixmaster Smoked Salmon concentrate – so familiar to anglers of that era. It is also packed full of LT pre-digested fishmeals, liquid food attractants and enhancers.

As stated above, both baits are available in 15mm and 20mm sizes, with matching 11mm or 14mm pop-ups. If you wish to have a tinker, Solar sell the basemix separately and there is also an original up ‘n’ down bag-mix and a 1.1L bottle of the Big Shot flavour for each too.
