Sonik | DOMINATORX Reels

RRP: 84.99 |

These are the latest reels from Sonik. There are two models within the line-up and at the price point you’d be hard pushed to beat them. The smaller of the two, the 6000, is ideal for anglers targeting smaller venues, those who prefer using fashionably shorter rods, or someone looking for a lighter reel to pair with a floater rod while the sun is out. The 8000 has huge line capacity on its tapered, aluminium spool and is therefore capable of covering all but the most ridiculous of distances, especially if you load it with braid.

They both share an identical specification, barring the size of their spools, boasting a sleek, black graphite body with gunmetal grey accents, a Quick Torque drag system, super slow oscillation, a folding handle with a barrel-shaped wooden grip and spools with two line clips, an oversized roller and a line guard behind the spool. Internally they have a stainless steel main shaft and five shielded stainless steel ball bearings, plus one roller bearing.

In use they are very smooth, the drag is quick, requiring just a quarter of a turn to go from fully ‘locked up’ to free running and the line lay is impeccable.

They are both supplied with a spare aluminium spool. Line capacities, for those that like to know everything, are as follows:

6000 model – 300m of 0.30mm (12lb), 220m of 0.35mm (15lb) and 165m of 0.40mm (18lb).

8000 model – 415m of 0.35mm (15lb), 320m of 0.40mm (18lb) and 255m of 0.45mm (20lb+).
